Default Attention Ad-Aware SE users

From WashingtonPost.com

Quote:
Microsoft Windows users who rely on Ad-Aware SE Personal (the free version) to protect their machines from spyware and adware should be aware that Lavasoft, the company that makes the popular program, stopped shipping updates for the software after Dec. 31.

People who want to continue using Ad-Aware can upgrade to Ad-Aware 2007. The free version of that program is available (the installer for the new version should automatically remove older Ad-Aware versions). Ad-Aware Plus and Professional users (as well as enterprise customers) will still be able to retrieve definition updates, according to a clarification posting on Lavasoft's user forum.
I just ran this scanner on my machine the other day (after Dec 31st). Ad-Aware SE does not give you notice of this turn of events. I'm glad I ran across this article.

I'm not sure if I want to upgrade to 2007. The free version does not let you run Ad-watch (Real Time Action). While the older free version does. I'm guessing sooner or later we all have to upgrade but for now I am going to stick with my older version.

There's always a catch.

I haven't upgraded myself yet either.

I personally use Kaspersky. It's a bit pricey but is the best I've ever seen in protection.

My friend uses Kaspersky and all he has is positive feedback as well. I am on the verge of deciding on whether to purchase it or just stick with a free one. It's a hard decision if you ask me.

I've also heard good things about Kaspersky. Perhaps I'll give it a try one of these days.

I am using Nod32 and i think it is pretty neat and does not give out false positives. I am planning to upgrade to Online Armour. Heard a lot about it.
