can't I rlogin/telnet

Why can't I rlogin/telnet in as root?
when I try to rlogin as root ,it gives me the message "Not on system console Connection closed.". What have I left out?
Please assist me with this.

Hey yvsanil,

I think I might be able to help you out if you posted the specifics to your system. For example your linux build and distribution. As well as a little bit of hardware info motherboard wise of course. As this may affect what you can do with the OS.

Try checking the root username any capital letters or special characters. Because telnet is a stripped down program it may not be able to properly read this signs and automatically can't find a root match.

Have you already checked up the nslookup hostname and the nslookup ip? If you haven't, then you should check it out...
