I am currently in Iraq with the US Marine Corps so i don't have the ability to go to tech stores and get the latest word on new hardware from my friends and aquaintances back home. With the new quad core processors, new RAM and not to mention the graphics card technology progressing i don't know if i will be up to par enough to build my own rig when i get back to the states. I really am between a rock and a hard place. I am open to any suggestions and would like to hear your pros and cons on the matter!

I think your decision is hinged on how you are going to use your PC. If it is for server use, I personally advise that you go for branded units. Else you can settle for clones which can address your requirements and which you can later upgrade.

If you would ask me personally, i would suggest you to go with a branded PC.

You should just go to Wal Mart and buy a computer. Yes, a cheap store but their computers are quality.

I think that greatly depends on your needs as for what purpose are you using it. It would better if you mention your purpose.
