Default best cd/dvd burners?

which brand makes the best cd/dvd burners ? for example if one wants to backup a game or a program which uses safedisk, then not all burners can do that. and i need backups much, i already lost a few cds because my cdrom sometimes destroys the cd :S i should be getting a new one, but knowing which type is the best is a good thing.

im not experienced, but i heard that some liteon models are good, so you should probably try looking what the reviews that people write about each burner, they are very helpful.

Liteon is backing out of the industry. So I'd say a SONY DRU-820A or an 810A.

liteon backing out ? didnt hear that. anyway as you said sony models, or toshiba models as i heard that some toshiba models have no problems with safedisc whatsoever, so it would probably be best, and also these 2 brands are known for much more than just cd/dvd drives.

i have a toshiba burner in my laptop, i lent the laptop to someone currently so i cannot give the model name, but it certainly can backup safedisc (used alcohol120% for that), so you might want to try that.

i only have experience with liteon models, and i can say that they dont support backing up of safedisc, atleast i have had 0 out 5 tries to backup a safedisc whether it was with isoing or burning on another disc.

lite on rocks . it has many features and safedisk writing and reading techniques which sony can never match . plus it can read scratched disks also pretty efficiently
