i personally prefer pc cillin but everyone uses something different and satisfied with what he got. i heard that nod32 is good as well(it is, it once cleaned a virus that no other program could) but some how it is not as popular as Norton and Trendmicro...

I use the free version of AVG from Grisoft. It is a light anti virus software but good enough as my PC's first line of defense against destructive viruses. What I like about AVG is that it does not eat much of my PC resources.

I used AVG as well, but don't really like it. It really doesnt eat up too much of the memory usage, but I couldnt clean anything when it was installed and the viruses it quarantined were coming back. i wonder if the paid version is better...

I think I covered this a while ago in an older post on the subject, but will add my input again.
Avira AntiVir! This always gets left off the "Best AV" list for the simple reason it is FREE! (You know how big business works.) In non-biased lists, it always appears right up there with paid AV softs. There is a professional version which costs, but only adds some other tools like anti-spyware scanner, etc. I have been using this since my first day on the internet (about 10 years now). I think V2 (now V7) was the first version I installed. It has never let me down. Between this and my nerdy approach to what I install on my machine, I am yet to have a virus get past it. I even made a donation to the project a bunch of year ago. I will continue to use this product until the day it lets me down. (Doubtful at this point!) :)

to be honest i never heard of Avira AntiVir, gonna check them out. problem is, even if a good program comes out to the market, people look biased on it, because there are bigger sharks out there with established name, so people are afraid to trust on some new security system when there is a good proven one out there... thanks for sharing though!

I use Mcafee enterprise 8.0i its the best virus scanner I have used its just as powerful as Norton but it doesn't bog down the system as bad. Since I have installed it I have never been infected with a virus I do from time to time get them but Mcafee just deletes them right away I would highly recommend this to any one. It also has some extra features such as port blocking email scanning and lots more

I use FREE AVG from Grisoft. I was a bit skeptical at first, since it was free, but I found it to be very good. I had used Norton before, and I though this anti-virus would be worse, but the opposite occurred. It runs faster, and doesn't slow down my PC AND the virus definitions are just as good as Norton. I was even more convinced when a family member bought Norton to remove some virus, and Norton was not able to remove it. I told them to use FREE AVG, and the virus was gone!
