Has anyone used this to protect their computer? I was, but I uninstalled it. It made my computer run slow, and it kept popping up even though I told it not to. I don't like programs that put themselves on the start-up programs list even when you take them down. It did this. Plus, it would rarely cancel when I told it to, and it would deny task manager the option of closing it or adjusting its priority. This annoying program felt like it was teh virus it was supposed to protect me from!

AVG is an antivirus, it has to startup with your computer. What use is an antivirus if you are going to disable it?

I have been using AVG for well over 5 years now with absolutely no problem at all. My PC runs extremely fast with AVG than with any other antivirus.

Did you have 2 antivirus at the same time in your pc? maybe this is the reason why your system runs slow, also fixing some registry entries in order for this to not run at startup can fix the problem if it cannot be fix by removing the application at startup folder on explorer.

Ditto. I've used AVG for a good 3 and a half years (I think) and love every minute of it.

AVG is the best antivirus software .It starts up when you start the computer to provide maximum protection to your computer.I am a AVG user , according to me it doesn't make my computer slow.Maybe there are some other programs that use up the memory

AVG is indeed a name of repute. I have also used it before i switched to Symantech. No problems were faced at that time.
