Default Help for a laptop

I'd like to get a laptop in a couple of years, but maybe, just to have a littel idea, can someone give me some nice brands, cheap, but still good? It doesn't need to be a very powerful computer, as I'd maonly use it to internet, not much more.
Thanks:)

Well from the other thread that is going you may not want to be getting a Dell. I mean they are the cheapest but that one exploaded. Hp makes ok laptops but they cost a bit more. You can go for a nice simple IBM they are ok but once you start to load them with software they are not to great.

Toshiba has a great rep. for laptops....
I'd get one with a decent warranty and would go with a brand name to be sure you're getting the most for your money. They really have come down in price.
When the IBM thinkpad first came out in the early nineties they were $6k and on backorder for months.
I remember my first look at a laptop in high school when a teacher had one. We thought it was so cool looking but it really was huge in contrast to today's paper thin notebooks. We called them LUGGABLES because they could really give you a cramp carrying them around although they were meant to be portable.

I think Toshiba and IBM are the best brands you could use, They both trustable which is the most important ( for me at least ). Hope they both will be around when you decide to get one.
