Ideally, how often should one post in his blog to judge it as a good blog? Does it have to be everyday?

Yes, actually if you can try 5 a day. If you can find enough stuff to blog about. More than five might overwhelm your users though.

Much more important than quantity is frequency. Find a posting frequency that works for you and stick to it. I recommend building a backlog up in your drafts before starting to help when writers block inevitably strikes.

I think people should update their blogs on a regular basis.
At least once a day or if you're going to make more than one post or you have excellent content within the post(s), then once a week or once every couple of days is good.

I was every day for the first little while. Because my blog deals in creative writing (humour) coming up with something each day became increasingly more difficult.

I shoot for once or twice per week now. The longest I went without posting was 10 days and traffic started to suffer at that point.
