Just wondering what is the correct amount of posts that should be made on my blog per week so that the search engines give me more weight?

Is it an average of one per day, two per week, 4 per week?

I would say as many quality post as you can.

No less than 2 a day on average if you want to even have a chance to compete with the big boys and you better be a good writer too who can break the latest news and write some captivating stories.

I don't know about the search engines, but as for you're readers, 2+ a day will keep them satisfied. Don't overdo it either, or else they will get bored of it, unless the content is really beneficial or unique. The reason I say that is because a lot of blogs just comment on articles released by big sites, and they voice their opinion on it, which is fine, but after the 3rd post it seems like a repetition of the original source.

it would depend on your traffic, if you have heavy daily traffic, returning visitors, etc, u need to make at least one post every 2 days, to keep the visitors happy and coming back. if the traffic is little, dont push too hard...

I think once a day is fine but it is always better to blog as much as you can. There is no limit to quality blogging.

Well If you have great a topic base site and you know better your conetent than you should make more than 10 posts per week. I have sport news blog and I always make more than 4 posts per day. Even sometimes I made 10 posts per day. More good posts give your site better.

Contrary giving a fixed number, let me tell you that you need to be consistent.

If you are making one post a day, your visitors will expect one post a day. If you make a post a week, then accordingly.

Make sure you're posts have quality and not there just for the heck of it. Visitors don't like that.

It depends on your blog and the blog visitors.
For me quality is more important than quantity. For me 1 post a day ( or sometimes 1 post in 2 days ) is alright. Since i visit several blogs it would be diffcult to check them all when there are 3 or 4 posts a day.
