I've got a few pet peeves. I'm sure I *could* think of more but these are the ones that stand out the most.
#1 - Music and Sounds This is why I HATE landing on a myspace page. For the love of God why do people play music on their websites? Yesterday I was looking at a website that had a Youtube video, but you couldn't hear the video because of the lame music file that was running. *Click*, I'm outa there! #2 - Animations What is it about putting little animations all over a website? twirling mailboxes, flashing traffic lights, blah blah blah. It's annoying and it turns the site into a resource hog. Stop it. Please? :( #3 - Myspace I just don't like these. I don't have an account and I never will. #4 - PDF files Some of these things bog down my laptop like you wouldn't believe. I've also noticed PDF's are started to rank well for pretty big keywords. What's up with that? #5 - No Contact Page I've come across countless websites that seem to offer a pretty steller product or service, but they leave me no way to enquire or ask questions. Just throwing up an "add to cart" button doesn't cut it. Give me a way to talk to you. Well, there's my top 5. I'll probably think of more later. How about you? |

Besides the 5th and 3rd one i won't agree ;) .. Music gives you the feel they want.. You hate animations? for being a resource hog i do that too but they look nice, Love PDF file since they started making those game manuals in Acrobat, offcourse i hate them when they use it to deliver basic text and graphics data when the same thing could be done through a simple html page :)

Music, well, I guess some people design sites for themselves and not at all think of the visitor. In my case, I listen to my own music. I use iTunes and stream radio pretty much ALL the time. So when I stumble onto a site that's playing music I instantly leave. I never really liked the idea of trying to listen to two songs at the same time. I design my sites for the visitor, not myself. I suppose I can see how this would differ from person to person. Different strokes for different folks. :) |

So far I haven't had *too* much trouble with Flash, but I haven't really spent a lot of time on sites that use a lot of it either so it could just be that I manage to avoid most of them.
Pop-ups are indeed the worst, but FF stops almost all of them. |

I really hate it when they have ones that you cant close, like it has the X mark and you click it and another pop up opens, they only happen when they open in the site and not in a new window though.
