Default Page Ranking question

Hi,

I have seen that many directories have a rel=nofollow policy to the links on their sites. Does this cut down the chances of gaining PageRank ?

If the outbound links in that site has a "rel=nofollow" then that site will not pass any Page Ranking to any other sites.

Yes, it does. Don't submit to directories using the no follow attribute. There really is no point in it other than getting some exposure and hoping someone will see your link and click it. lol

I did it and it really didn't worked out for me at all. So i have to submit to other directories which do not have "rel=nofollow". So its no point in submitting your page to such directories.

Most paid directories don't use the nofollow attribute.

Getting exposure - Having people visit that directory and click on your link.

IF you want to know whether the site is dofollow or not, you can easily install the Google Search Engine Optimization for Firefox, which it will automatically detects whether the site is nofollow or not...

And, if you're not too lazy, then you can check the websites' Page Ranking with this famous PRchecker.info site. Don't worry, as the PR will be at least 99.9% correct...
