This week, Technorati talked in their buzz monitor about the importance of pinging.

If you're a blogger, ping services notify directories that you've put a new entry in your blog. If a person is searching for blog articles to read, they may happen upon your blog in a directory and click an add, leave a comment or subscribe through rss feeds and become a regular reader.

I use pingomatic.com as my ping service and also am subscribed to technorati so that my blog is automatically 'pinged' everytime I create a new entry.

Pinging is a MUST in the blogosphere. Most blogs these days are pinging so if you aren't they are probably all beating you to it.
