in Ask Jeeves? I am wondering how to get listed in that search engine.

You don't need to pay to get listed. Ensure that you site has keywords, descriptions and good text and you are set to go.

I might be wrong on this, but I think at one time you did have to pay to be listed. At the time most of my sites were listed anyways so I never paid, but I'm almost certain that at one time it was a "pay to play" set up.

probably one of the many reasons they didn't make it as a search engine. They definitely have spiders now. They were crawling my sites like crazy at one point eating up my bandwith

Not always true... I myself have used it on quite a few occassions, Its a great website when you have no idea on how to find a website. So I could see why some people may want to be listed there. I mean its not as popular as google by anymeans!
