one of the major affiliate programmes i hv found is the g/adsense. another is yahoo ads but not ww..so try it

In my early days, I went on a bit of a sign up craze at one point where I signed up for too many but then decided focusing on one or a few at a time was likely a better way to build the business.
Looking in depth at programs is a good idea and participating in forums on these sites is great too because you can see what others are talking about and what they're having success with.
There are oodles of programs out there, I'd focus on one at a time and see where you're earning and what your niche is. If you focus on a market you're familiar with and build from there that's a great way to begin.

to answer you question
1. I am not saying affiliate program is so good or bad, but if you know what you are doing you could be successful
2. None so far becuase i am not indulge much on this activity
3. One way is to register at adwords, promote the product there by bidding on keywords specific on that product but could easily be spotted on, be sure that the amount you spent should be much lower than your commission (this is the rule)

If you cosider it an affiliate program, I say Google AdSense by far. Otherwise, I have to say CJ.com.
