When looking at how much money you are making or can make from an affiliate program, keep in mind the impact of returns. If one of your leads ends up cancelling service after an initial trial, you may lose the money you earned on that sale.

This is true. Refund can be unexpected expense. Don't count your income until you get into a grove and see how much on average you lose from refunds, returns, and chargebacks.
