Mobile Phone Price Comparison Opportunity
As some of you know I have recently been working on a mobile phone price comparison site. I’ve decided to open it up so as it can be promoted by other affiliates as, obviously, affiliate programs are the best way to get traffic!
To keep initial costs low, and so pass on the maximum amount possible to you, I’ve decided it is best to set up a shared link program rather than set up a program with a network or a standard independent program.
The idea behind the shared link is that you register your affiliate IDs with me then, when a user clicks a link to a merchant, your ID is used the majority of the time but occasionally my ID will be used instead.
The benefits of doing things this way are: - you get to monitor your traffic in your normal network reports, you get paid in your normal network payment and I don’t have to deal with any payments so I can afford to take a smaller share.
Initial Promotion
I’m going to set up all partners that join by the end of the month so their IDs are used at the higher rate of 80% of the time. The reasoning behind this is, since the site is new, I expect its conversion rate could still be optimised. Getting more traffic to the site will help me optimise it, but I also hope that affiliates will give their feedback and suggestions as improving the site will benefit them as much as me.
After this month I plan to set new partners so their IDs will be used 75% of the time, with better rates available for anyone driving large volumes. Though 80% and 75% seem similar, at 75% 1 in 4 clicks will use my IDs but at 80% it’s only 1 in 5.
How it Works
When you send a visitor to the site or to a dynamic content unit they will get a 365 day cookie set that links them to you. If they return to the site anytime in that cookie period thru a free link (e.g. a natural search result, entering the url in to the browser, non affiliate link) and click a link to a merchant then your IDs will be used the majority of the time.
Dynamic Content Units
I know some people would rather keep the users on their site. So I have made the content unit below that you can easily include into your pages. This allows users to quickly find the cheapest deals that match their requirements.
