At the pre-E3 conference at Sony Studios, both the price of the PS3 and the release date are confirmed.

The PS3 comes in two configurations in terms of hard drives: a 20-gig hard drive and a 60-gig hard drive. The 20 will cost $499 and the 60 will cost $599, and it will ship on the 11th in Japan and the 17th in the US (both in November) - apparently, the no-regional-encode idea went through alright.
