I am quite interested in designing websites and host them online at others servers..

but some of my friends and myself were discussing the pros and cons of having to host it at other servers than hosting it at your own server

well i like building my own server coz i feel u can add custom ram and hard drives no bandwidth issues..but the problem that comes is that you need to have a high speed connection ISP, and it must be against their TOS to host a server, the last issue which also quite important is that the you need to have a static IP to run a powerful server, and more than one server, like one for images one for files, but for normal people designing sites these dont come into considerations.

also the cost is much less but then we dont have that much expertise normally as the web hosting sites have, and the uptime is also another issue

what do you people think?
